Born September 4, 1962, Baroda
Major teams India, Baroda
Batting style Right-hand
Fielding position Wicketkeeper
Text Box: An accomplished wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman, Kiran More took to Test cricket like a duck to water. Having toured the West Indies as deputy to Syed Kirmani in 1982-83, he was unlucky to have to wait until the tour of England 1986 to play his first Test, having kept consistently and batted well during the tour of Australia the previous winter, when he played in nine one-day internationals. In England he was an immediate success, keeping wicket in the three Tests with neatness and sure-handed skill and batting with much confidence always in tune with the needs of his side. He made 156 runs at an average of 52 in his five Test innings, playing a vital role in the victories over England at Lord’s and Headingly and in saving them from defeat with 31 not out on a difficult pitch at Edgbaston. His highest score is 181 not out against UP in 1983-84, when he shared a last-wicket stand of 145 with V. Patel. He was in the National Selection Committee for one term in 2003-04 and a Selector for two terms thereafter.
