Text Box: A bundle of energy, ‘C.S.’ Nayudu was a right-arm leg-break and googly bowler who was like a flail, spinning the ball fiercely. As a right-handed batsman, he was inelegant but waited for the right ball and then hit it hard and in the deep, he was brilliant. Between 1934 and 1961 he had an excellent record in Ranji Trophy – 2,575 runs at an average of 30.20 and a haul of 295 wickets at 23.49 a piece, once taking 14 wickets in a match and twice exceeding 30 wickets in a season. He holds a record for bowling more balls in one match than anyone, for Holkar vs Bombay in 1944-45 he bowled 152.5 overs (917 balls).
