Text Box: Text Box: Touring England with the 1936 team, Amir Elahi was not selected for the Tests and on the 1947-48 Australian tour, he played in one Test, as a bowler, yet was not called upon to bowl. He was in Pakistan’s first team to vist India in 1952-53, but eight first-class matches brought him only 13 wickets. A right-arm medium-pace bowler who turned to leg-breaks and googlies, he was a prolific wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy championship, taking 193 wickets in 24.72 a piece. A lovable character, he was the first Pakistan Test cricketer to die.
